Assalamualaikum dan Salam maya.
It is now have been confirmed that the newly-much awaited Proton MPV will be named as Proton Exora. Although much of the details are still "blanketed", some rumors of the detail do manage to escape out from the Proton facilities.
Here are some comment which i picked up randomnly from one of our own-local-most-famous Automotives blog;
PaulTan. Be aware that those comments are subjected to each individual poster respectively. The information might or might not be totally true.

The name is good but the price is not worth…
Its a proton the price should now tht much…
many will still go for Avanza as is a more reliable car then porton…
—————————————————————-
it’s not about others peoples, it’s about urself… if u still want go to for avanza, then go on… below RM80k for a huge mpv then it’s will sell well… The interior accessories is great especially for Hi-Line model.. i know what the interior accessories and anothers specs from my friend who’s a protonian.. Hi-Line model will impress malaysian fellas with it’s prices… but i will never revealed it’s here… i will kept it’s as secret until the MPV was officially launch… that why i’m believe it’s will sell like a hot cakes… anyway, i will book 1 for myself… i will never go for cramped avanza…

PROTON EXORA : M-line RM70,400.00 H-line RM74,500.00……Comes with bluetooth/hands-free radio (yes you can plug your hp into the radio)..with caller ID. 8.5″ TFT LCD DVD player @ the 2nd row…for viewing pleasure. Cabin size similar to Grandis. In-dash Gate-type gear lever n self-illuminating meter cluster. Hv separate rear aircond blower. Applies to both variants. The Exora is also packed wiyh unbelievable features….quality is GREAT! Before any of you bash me, go check it out 1st hand. It now uses a body-control-module (BCM) which is basically a printed circuit-board that reduces electrical components (eg. relays) n wirings. Therefore it reduces vendors too. The BCM is manufactured in Seberang Prai n functions like the i-Drive found in BMWs/Mercs. There are so much new features in the Exora that you’ll be SURPRISED! At least I was. You simply hv to check it out yourself.
The powertrain. Even I was skeptical at first, but now I say, TRY IT OUT FIRST, before you bash (I made that mistake). I really do hope that this is THE revival of P1.
P/S: Forget abt the competitors. Get this.

Proton Exora under-powered? Here are the figures.
1380kg ; 1597cc ; 125bhp/127ps (whichever you want to use).
Now go do your maths. Done? OK. How much bhp per 1L (1000cc)?

...from the initial spEc Exora doEs sound nicE… 80K might bE the max pricE(lots of spEakEr and monitor hErE and thErE) and pEoplE can start comparing it with toyota wish or honda strEam also rathEr than livina, avanza, gaga, gugu, gigi model, bEar in mind that this product bEnchmark is toyota wish…
using a printEd circuit is much bEttEr than rElay usage since it is Easily fixEd ( i imaginE changing ram on a pc here) and much bEttEr if can bE donE by End usEr than charging the End usEr with labor cost.

Ok guys, some of u might be telling, whats the point of having 150Nm’s of torque and 125Hp but only achieve that at 4800rpm an 6500rpm for the latter…..okey lets talk about the normal driving range engine speed….most of us drive at about 2000 to 3500 rpm….at this rpm, the power and torque that u get from the 1.6CPS is about:
Power : 28KW to 52KW (37.5HP to 69.7HP)
Torque :132Nm to 142Nm (88% to 95% of the max torque produced)
As we all know, for low speed engine, the power produced is realtively low, this cant be helped…but what is important is the torque….as i have stated above, u can get 88% to 95% of the max torque from 2000rpm to 3500 rpm in an ALMOST LINEAR INCREASING MANNER!!!(which means no any nasty dip in between it like the bare campro).
To gauge power, we always see the power to weight ratio…measured in BHP per TONNE. So based on the value of weight that nutzeywagen posted ( i am not implying this is the weight of the MPV, just taking it as an example)…for 125Hp and weight of 1380kg, we will get a power to weight ratio of 90.6 BHP per TONNE which is…….(no comment rite now since the weight is not told by me)….so if u guys wanna compare the power to weight ratio with other MPV’s, get their weight and max hp and use this formula:-
note :1 tonne = 1000kg
weight(kg)/power(bhp) = ‘X’ kg/bhp (how many kilo’s 1 hp can support) then,
1000kg (= 1tonne) / ‘X’ (kg/bhp) = ‘Z’ bhp per tonne
So enjoy comparing, the higher the ‘Z’ value, the better….
Cheers!

@ Littlefire
Smoothly? Not a chance. If they change the transmission ratio, it will have high RPM issue in highway cruising. If they solved this by put a tall top gear, power delivery in highspeed overtaking will suffer (especially the 4-Speed). For this engine, there is no way to get the best of both world.

I googled the following new car prices for the sake of comparison. As a note, they are all auto, higher end version, OTR price with insurance.
Toyota Avanza 1.5S (A) RM 77,100.00
Toyota Rush 1.5G (A) RM 88,888.00
Toyota Rush 1.5S (A) RM 94,888.00
Nissan G Livina 1.6L (A) RM 88,600.00
Suzuki APV 1.6GLX (A) CBU RM 76,872.60
Kia Citra II Rondo EXS (A) RM 88,888.00
Proton Exora 1.6 (A) RM 74,500.00 *
* This is based on the highest price from the range of RM 70,400 to RM 74,500. Not sure whether this is inclusive of insurance.

the auto industry is started with the intention to boost the development of other industry, plastic, metal, electronic… but, it seems to be failed by our own malaysian track of mind which always said… the foreigner is better than us and can never beat them…
so, this group of malaysian say, let just follow and be a user… be just only manufacturer (without much RnD, hoping other country to invent and we use it), be a buyer…

... There are in fact so much innovations in the Exora that most laymen don’t even bother to know. For those who wants to know, don’t look into interior. Look at the exterior. The platform, chassis, suspension n things like that. Should hv seen the crash-test photos/videos (done in Spain). It protects the passengers. Passive/active safety standards are…..wah lau eh……mo tak teng! There are so much more but my hands are tied, my lips are sealed. I gave my word.
P/S: Pls don’t ask me to show photos/videos. I can’t.

another way to to improve performance is to shortened the gear ratios , it wil affects top speed bt thats irrelevant in an mpv….another important thing is the engine got to be refined without the familiar boom sound of the campro….
believe me , if avanza 1.3cc is on the road , no one has the right to question a 1.6cc cps ! if avanza 1.3 is considered an mpv by god knows wat standards , thn this Exora will have no problems . .
another ting is the Lavina is a 1.6cc engine as well , and not many ppl complaining…..as long as the refinemnet of the motor is there its good enough , unless those nutjobs who want to test see if the car can hit 200km/hr or not…at the end of the day , this is targeted at FAMILIES . not young bachelors or college students…or first time car buyers…
